Sanford Bemidji Medical Center

Due to a recent increase in respiratory illnesses in the Bemidji region, Sanford Bemidji Medical Center and Sanford Bagley Medical Center have implemented visitor restrictions.

These restrictions will take effect at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2025, and will remain in place until further notice.

Visitor guidelines include:

  • Up to four visitors per patient per day.
  • All visitors 15 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult.
  • One visitor may stay overnight as an emotional support person.

Masking guidelines:

  • Masks are strongly encouraged for patients and visitors, especially if showing signs of respiratory illness.
  • Masks are required for visitors in the following areas:

Additional restrictions: Individuals who are ill or showing symptoms should not visit.

Special Care Nursery: No more than two visitors at a time, one of whom must be a parent/caregiver wearing an infant ID band. All visitors must be six years or older and wear a mask at all times. Visits are limited to 15 minutes.

Specific visitation requests may be accommodated at the discretion of the department director.

Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, originally founded in 1898, has more than 6,000 admissions and 800 births each year in our level II nursery. As a regional hub, the emergency department, a level III trauma center, treats nearly 30,000 patients a year.

Our care team provides inpatient and outpatient surgery, cardiac care, general medical/surgical/orthopedics care, intensive and critical care services, radiology, diagnostic testing, rehabilitation services and emergency care. We have a women’s & children’s center and a special care nursery.

Our medical center has 118 licensed beds and four floors of care. It is also home to Sanford Bemidji Heart & Vascular Center. Patients with clinic appointments at the heart & vascular center should use the east entrance to the Medical Center. View our campus map.

Hospital visitors and patients coming to the campus for heart and vascular clinic appointments should use the Medical Center east entrance and nearby light blue parking lots.

Monday – Sunday 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.

What you will need to visit: 

  • For the safety of our patients and staff, all visitors are required to have a visitor badge from the Easy Lobby Visitor Management System. Guest Services staff will assist visitors with this process at the East Information Desk.
  • A driver’s license is required.
  • All visitors must check in/check out at Guest Services or Patient Access. 
  • A new badge will be issued daily. 
  • All visitors must check out and back in regardless of the length of time they are away.
  • Minors 15 and under must be accompanied at all times.

Sanford Gifts is located in the East Lobby of Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Our gift shop is staffed by volunteers to enrich the experience of staff, patients, residents and visitors.

You may purchase a gift to be delivered to a patient staying at Sanford Bemidji Medical Center. Our selection includes a variety of gifts appropriate for patients of all ages.
