Larry Burris, DO

Dr. Larry Burris joined Sanford Health as a nephrologist in July 2000. In September 2007, he became the lead transplant nephrologist for the kidney transplant program and was later appointed as Program Director for Transplant Services. In addition, he is the Medical Director of Neurocritical Care. He completed his Nephrology fellowship at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 2000. He earned his medical degree from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency at the Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Burris is board certified in Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Hypertension and Neurocritical Care.  His personal interests include bicycling, kayaking, running and computers.

Thavam Thambi-Pillai, MD

Dr. Thambi joined Sanford Health as the lead transplant surgeon in November 2010. Prior to joining Sanford, he spent four years as Associate Director of Transplant Surgery at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.  He earned his medical degree in Ireland in 1996.  In Philadelphia, PA, in 2003, he completed a general surgery residency at Drexel University College of Medicine and a human islet cell transplantation fellowship at University of Pennsylvania in 2004. He finished his transplant surgical fellowship at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH in 2006.  He is board certified in General Surgery. Dr. Thambi completed his MBA in 2014.

Mohammad Qamar, MD

Dr. Qamar’s philosophy is to provide the highest quality of care in partnership with the patient to achieve maximum satisfaction.  Dr. Qamar is Board Certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine.   Dr. Qamar did his Nephrology Fellowship Training at the University of Pittsburgh under the mentorship of Dr. Beth Piraino, world renowned expert on Peritoneal Dialysis.  In collaboration with Dr. Piraino, Dr. Qamar was the lead author on two review articles about home dialysis.  He was also involved in two research abstracts about Peritoneal Dialysis.   Dr Qamar has been with the Sanford Nephrology Group since July 2011.  Dr. Qamar’s personal interests include photography, travelling, and reading.

Jenna Truckenbrod, PA-C

Jenna Truckenbrod joined Sanford Health as a physician assistant in July 2016.  She completed her graduate degree at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD.  She aims to provide the best care for her patients by treating each person as a unique individual and listening to all of their concerns and questions. Jenna’s personal interests include spending time with her family outdoors, running, golfing and traveling.
