Our Re-opening Plans

Sanford Wellness Centers in Sioux Falls re-opened on Monday, May 11, with limited hours and accessibility. We have enhanced guidelines in place to ensure the well-being of our members and staff amid the COVID-19 pandemic and look forward to having you back in our facilities.

Membership billing will resume June 1, and you’ll enjoy an additional 25% off your membership fees for June and July. Because we were closed for part of March, you will not be billed for the remainder of May.

As you make plans to resume visits to the Sanford Wellness Centers, remember we have a collective responsibility to keep each other safe and healthy. If you feel sick, stay home. If you have a condition that puts you at an increased risk of COVID-19 complications, be thoughtful about your decision to visit our facility.

Modified Hours

Both Sanford Wellness Center locations in Sioux Falls will be open to members age 12 and older (no guest passes) with the following hours:

  • Monday - Friday: 5 a.m. - 8 p.m. (closed 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. for deep sanitization)
  • Saturday: 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

The Sanford Fieldhouse will be open during Sanford POWER hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 5:30 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Friday: 5:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed

Safety Precautions

We followed local, state and federal guidelines and consulted our own experts at Sanford Health to develop safety practices for our facilities as we re-open:

  • Members will be screened upon entry.
  • Social distancing is strongly encouraged at all times in all areas (lobby, training areas, locker rooms, etc.).
  • Members must sanitize equipment before and after each use. Staff will sanitize equipment regularly and perform deep sanitization each afternoon and overnight.
  • Select areas and services will be available.

Available Services

Kidzones

  • One family is allowed in the check-in and check-out area; no family members are allowed in the care area.
  • All employees will wear masks.
  • Children will be screened for symptoms and temperature.
  • Children will wash their hands upon arrival (and as needed).
  • Personal belongings must be stored in cubbies.
  • Kidzone will be sanitized regularly.

Oxbow Kidzone Hours
Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Saturday: 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Tea Ellis Kidzone Hours
Monday – Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Saturday: 8:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
Sunday: 10:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Pools

Children 6 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. You must shower and hand sanitize before entering the pool, and social distancing of at least 6 feet between members is required.


Oxbow
Main Pool

  • No reservations required (please continue to reserve a lane for swimming or water walking through July 5th)
  • Three permanent lap swimming lanes; two swimmers per lane
  • Adults only from 5:00 - 11:00 a.m.
  • 20 swimmers maximum in the open swimming area
  • Four people maximum in the whirlpool; limit your time to 10 minutes
  • Sauna remains closed

Warm Water Pool

  • Available for adult water walking for up to eight members (no reservation required)
  • Limited hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30-10:30 a.m. and 2:30-4 p.m.

Tea Ellis

  • 30 members maximum in the pool area
  • Two permanent lap swimming lanes; one member per lane.
  • Slides and water features are available
  • Members must bring their own life jacket
  • No basketball
  • Four people maximum in the whirlpool; limit your time to 10 minutes
  • Sauna and steam room remain closed

Showers

  • Every other shower is open. Flip the shower sign when finished so it can be cleaned by staff.
  • The men’s locker room at Tea/Ellis is closed (please use family locker room).
  • Staff are rounding frequently to remove dirty towels.

Racquetball and Pickleball

  • Only two people per court OR a family/household (must be on the same membership).
  • Bringing your own equipment is strongly encouraged; however, equipment is available at the front desk (staff will sanitize before and after use).
  • Masks are strongly encouraged but not required.
  • Members assume all risk, including COVID-19 exposure.
  • Reservations are available one week in advance (book at the front desk or call).

Basketball Tea/Ellis

  • Four hoops will be available in the basketball courts (two hoops when pickleball is in use).
  • Limit of two players per hoop if from different households OR up to four players from the same household (must be on the same membership).
  • Bringing your own basketball is strongly encouraged; however, basketballs will be available for check out from the front desk (staff will sanitize before and after use).
  • Only touch the ball you are playing with.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged but not required. 
  • Members assume all risk, including COVID-19 exposure.

Forte Training Classes (Oxbow Only)

  • 10 participants max.
  • First come, first served.
  • The training room will again be reserved for classes at designated times.

Group Fitness

  • There will be a limited class schedule. View the class schedule (we recommend you check regularly for changes or cancellations).
  • Class sizes will be limited based on fitness-distancing guidelines.
  • Sign up will be required for all cycling and yoga classes and will be available at the front desk 30 minutes prior to the start of class.
  • No sign up is required for group exercise studio classes, which will be filled first come, first served. The studios will be available 10 minutes ahead of class time to set up your equipment.
  • Members must disinfect their equipment after each use.
  • Bring your own mat to yoga class (no mats provided). No straps or blankets will be used, and the yoga studio will not be heated.
  • We will continue to provide classes via Facebook for those of you unable to join class in our facilities.

Personal Training

  • Personal training can involve up to three individuals per session.
  • Masks are strongly encouraged.
  • One-on-one and small group training is allowed.
