Genetic Counselors

Most of our new patients will spend time with a genetic counselor during their initial appointment. The genetic counselor will review and discuss your family history to determine any possible increased risk of having a child with a genetic condition or birth defect. They may point out areas of concern for future testing options.

In addition, couples may meet with a genetic counselor if they have experienced:

  • Repeat miscarriages
  • The decrease or absence of sperm in semen
  • Premature ovarian failure

We also recommend genetic counseling for any couple undergoing IVF treatments.  We encourage ALL patients to see genetic counselor.
