Apply for financial aid from Sanford Health, whether you're an employee, a child of an employee, pursuing a medical career, or all of the above.
Through the Sanford Health Foundation, we offer several scholarship programs for funding your post-secondary degree, including:
- Heart of Tomorrow Program for children of Sanford Health employees
- Health Network Scholarship for students pursuing a degree in a health care-related field
- Sanford Sons & Daughters for medical students who are children of Sanford Health employees
We also offer scholarships for veterans, military members, and students pursuing specific fields such as nursing and radiology.
Albert Ronice Scholarship
The Sanford Health Foundation Albert Ronice Scholarship provides financial assistance for nursing student entering their four year of training for their bachelor's degree in nursing through the Tri-College Nursing Program.
First priority will be given to St. Luke's School of Nursing graduates, followed by current Sanford Health employees and other students. Other criteria will be financial need and academic excellence.
One $2,100 scholarship will be awarded. The application deadline is Nov. 15.
Donna Howlett Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is available to Sanford USD Medical Center employees who are currently enrolled or plan to enroll in an institution of higher education. Recipients must have been employed at Sanford USD Medical Center for one year as a full-time or part-time patient care technician, nurse aide or therapy aide.
One $1,500 scholarship will be awarded. Applications are due Nov. 15.
Heart of Tomorrow Program
Sanford Health's Heart of Tomorrow program is designed to assist employees' dependent children with a $1,000 gift to be used in their pursuit of post-secondary education.

Health Network Scholarship
Sanford Health Network is pleased to offer a $2,000 scholarship opportunity to students pursuing a post-secondary degree in a health care-related field. By offering this scholarship, we are making an investment in our region's future workforce and the communities we serve.
You do not need to be a Sanford employee to apply. The application period is each spring; check back for more details on qualifications and deadlines.
Helen Jaconson Cafourek Scholarship
This scholarship is available for those who need financial assistance for their nursing education at approved and accredited institutions. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. Applications are due Nov. 15.
Junge/Moller Nursing Endowment
This scholarship is available to Sanford USD Medical Center employees who are enrolled or planning to enroll in an accredited registered nursing program, either undergraduate or master's level. One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. The application deadline is Nov. 15.
Kelly Kortan Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship is available to Sanford USD Medical Center employees enrolled in an accredited, undergraduate registered nursing program. Applicants must:
- Have successfully completed at least half of the credits required for graduation
- Be employed in a scheduled part-time or full-time position at Sanford USD Medical Center
- Be sharing financial support
- Be raising one or more children
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. Applications are due Nov. 15.
Kotapay Nursing Scholarship
This scholarship is available to Sanford Health employees in the Fargo region who are accepted students in an accredited entry-level nursing program or advancing their nursing education in an accredited nursing program.
Sanford employees in scheduled part-time or full-time positions, in good standing with no disciplinary action, and accepted for attendance in an accredited nursing program are eligible. Seven $2,000 scholarships will be awarded. Applications are due Nov. 15.
Luci Spaeth Holte Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance for a current Sanford Health employee wishing to obtain a degree in nursing. A current Sanford Health employee must attend an accredited school, provide documentation of acceptance, and demonstrate financial need.
One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded. The application deadline is Nov. 15.
Mary Jo Langenwalter Scholarship
This scholarship provides financial assistance for tuition for a current clinical laboratory science student who has great financial need. Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. The application deadline is Nov. 15.
Nursing Loan Forgiveness Program
Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD, makes available a financial resource to assist students with the expenses associated with completion of their nursing degree. In return for the financial resource, the student has the opportunity to become employed as a registered nurse in a full-time status at Sanford USD Medical Center (Sioux Falls Region) for three years after graduation.
Sanford Health Foundation Board of Directors Scholarship
This scholarship is available to scheduled part-time or full-time Sanford Health employees currently pursuing a degree in the health care field, or non-employee students who have demonstrated the initiative and ability to attend Sanford Schools of Medical Technology or Radiologic Technology.
Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Applications are due Nov. 15.
The Sanford Sons & Daughters program is open to Sanford employees and those who have a parent or other family member employed by Sanford Health and who have been accepted into medical school, or at any time during their medical school training, residency or fellowship. Participants are eligible to receive resources, mentorship and financial support.
