Sanford Arts is part of Sanford Health’s Integrative Medicine – we are dedicated to health and healing by supporting and guiding our patients through the processes of art making. Local artists collaborate with patients in an effort to enhance each visit and ultimately the experience at Sanford Health.
The Sanford Arts program offers many opportunities for patients, caregivers and staff to participate in art making activities and programs. Collaborations with local artists create a sense of community and accomplishment for those who participate. These sessions have no time limit, nor content requirement, which allows patients to become comfortable with the materials and techniques as well as experience the full creative process.
This program is open to all patients, family member and caregivers free of charge.
Jessie Park, Sanford Arts Program Director, is a native of South Dakota earning a BS in Psychology and a minor in Music from Black Hills State University. After spending some time in Alaska, working with severely, emotionally abused children, Jessie accepted a position in a Master’s program, studying Expressive Therapies at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Following two years of work in the Boston inner city schools, Jessie accepted a nomination to serve as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine. For over two years, Jessie worked in Community and Youth Development in a small village, creating a youth center, writing grants and working to accomplish creative arts activities. At the close of her service abroad, Jessie returned to South Dakota to pursue the growth of the creative arts field here. Her goal is to see Expressive Therapies (art, music, dance and play therapy and psychodrama) as ubiquitous as social work in the eyes of South Dakota residents.
If you would like to learn more about Sanford Arts or would like to participate, please reach out to Jessie at 605-328-6071 or email Jessie.firstname.lastname@example.org.
