Considering Surgery

Surgery Options

Sanford offers three types of weight loss surgery: gastric bypass, laparoscopic banding and sleeve gastrectomy.

Gastric Bypass Surgery
Gastric bypass surgery reduces the size of your stomach and allows food to bypass part of the small intestine. The small stomach means you'll feel full more quickly, thus reducing the amount of food eaten and calories consumed.

Lap Band Surgery
Lap band surgery involves placing an adjustable band around your stomach. This limits the amount of food your stomach can hold, helping you eat less and feel full sooner.

Sleeve Gastrectomy Surgery
Sleeve gastrectomy surgery involves removing the majority of your stomach. This leaves a narrow tube of stomach, allowing food to pass through its normal route.
