• Narrative Medicine (2024): Narrative medicine explores the importance of story in the lives of patients and clinicians and how understanding a patient's story can enhance clinical and collaborative skills.
• Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine: Residents as Teachers, a year-long longitudinal course that provides residents with exposure to medical teaching concepts and gives them an opportunity to improve their teaching skills.

Idea of Care

I aim to provide patients with a diagnosis that is as clear and concise as possible so they can receive the care they need. I am also passionate about advocating for improving rural access to health care.

Personal Interests

Dr. Thorburn grew up in the rural and heavily forested Upper Peninsula of Michigan. He is an avid reader and movie watcher, and he enjoys spending time with his family and their various pets.
