A Specialist in Pediatric Intensive Care
Dr. Ashley Sandeen practices pediatric medicine, specializing in intensive care.
She treats children with life-threatening medical conditions, illnesses and trauma as well as provides post-surgical care.
Her services include:
- Assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment of critical medical and surgical illnesses
- Education for patients and families
- End-of-life care
Her clinical interests include respiratory failure, ventilator management, ICU delirium and shock.
Dr. Sandeen is passionate about quality improvement and is engaged in a variety of projects including an ICU Liberation Bundle and tools to support the Choosing Wisely initiative.
She serves as an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of South Dakota and as associate program director for the pediatric residency program at the USD Sanford School of Medicine. In these roles, she mentors residents and medical students, serves on multiple committees and works to support physician wellness within the residency program and at Sanford Health.
