Lior was born and raised in Israel. He spent most of his life there, and after graduating from high school served in the military for the required three year service. Lior was interested in seeing more of the world and traveled to the US. It was here he met and married his wife.

They lived in Chicago and in 2002 moved close to his wife’s family in Lincoln, Nebraska. While attending the University of Nebraska, Lior worked full-time on third shift for the Nebraska State Penitentiary as a correctional officer and as a corporal. In 2010 they moved to Madison, Wisconsin, due to his graduate studies. Lior earned his Masters in Genetic Counseling in May, 2012. He applied as a genetic counselor here at Sanford, and was fortunate to receive the position.

Lior wanted to combine the field of genetics with the ability to help people understand the underpinnings of genetic problems, along with solutions. He believes that with education, people can see that genetic predispositions are not something to be feared and that they do have choices that can be made based on current knowledge. He is interested in sitting with people who have little prior understanding of genetics, and working with them to break down the scientific information in a simple, manageable way so that they can make informed decisions not based on fear and misunderstanding. He likes to be able to work with and in his community.

Lior enjoys sports such as Professional and College football, Basketball and Soccer. He also enjoys History, Reading and watching the History channel.
