Idea of Care

My mentor taught me that patients deserve an extra five minutes of our time. I do this by starting each encounter by visiting about what is most important to my patients – such as family, hobbies or work. In this way, I fulfill the idea that “It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease than to know what sort of disease a person has.” I believe this allows for open and honest conversation and helps personalize patient care as much as possible.

Personal Interests

Dr. Maliske truly loves his work and the challenges it offers. To advance his knowledge, he enjoys medical podcasts and learning from disease experts on Twitter or other platforms. Outside of work, his greatest joy comes from spending time with his wife and daughter. They are expecting their second child soon.

He loves coffee – not just for the caffeine – and is an avid reader. You can often find him with a coffee in hand and reading a book beside a fireplace in a local coffee shop.
