A Specialist in Genetic Counseling

Lisa Straight is an expert in helping families with genetic conditions understand what role genetics play in disease.

Since many conditions are caused by both genetic and environmental factors, Lisa will explore what factors may increase the risk for disease and what testing may help to reduce risk of a family developing certain conditions.

Lisa will take a family history, and spend time educating you on the following topics:

• Inheritance
• Management
• Prevention
• Research
• Resources
• Testing

Lisa also provides support and counseling to help families understand the medical, psychological and familial effects of genetic testing and disease.

She is also a clinical instructor for the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine and a faculty member for the joint Augustana/Sanford Genetic Counseling program.
