As a neonatologist, Dr. Altaf specializes in the care of premature and sick newborn infants. Dr. Altaf holds a position as Associate Director of Neonatology and Clinical Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He is the Director, Division of Pediatric Research at Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo, currently working on a number of studies on newborn and premature infants in collaboration with Vermont Oxford Network. He has an interest in medical finance, particulary in professional coding and reimbursement, currently he is charge of a work group for coding, billing and reimbursement in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Dr. Altaf provides direction for his patients' healthcare according to current knowledge, developments and his understanding of his patients' disease conditions. He understands the importance of protecting the dignity of his patients as valued individuals. Dr. Altaf pays meticulous attention to diagnostic evaluation and therapy planning. He deals with complex medical problems, with an emphasis on nutritional wellness and the treatment of disease, all the while being sensitive to his patients' pain thresholds.
Dr. Altaf and his wife live in Fargo with their two daughters. He enjoys traveling, reading, swimming and kitchen gardening.
