Endocrinology, Nutrition, Metabolism
I believe in helping people empower themselves with education and information. I try to help patients understand their conditions, and to navigate through the various diagnostic test results and treatment options
Being an Endocrinologist, I focus on diabetes, as well as hormonal conditions such thyroid, pituitary and adrenal disease. I also see patients for disorders of bone metabolism such as calcium disorders and osteoporosis.
I was drawn to the field of Medicine because I felt it was challenging, yet afforded one the opportunity to interact with people and make a difference in someone's life. My biggest influence is my father, who was a cardiologist in the Philippines. Growing up, I saw, through him, how intellectually stimulating medicine could be, and also how rewarding it was to be able to help patients. I am married to Dr Ferdinand Makalinao, we have a little boy named Joshua.
I enjoy spending time with my family. I also enjoy watching movies, crossword puzzles, cooking, and running.
