Experience & Research

Dr. Newman has a master’s degree in public health and an interest in preventive health and public policy for children. Prevention is an integral part of pediatrics and she feels that children need an advocating voice in the legislature. She has been active in this process at both the state and federal level.

She also maintains a strong interest in child nutrition, particularly breastfeeding.

Idea of Care

I believe caretakers and pediatricians can establish healthy, symbiotic relationships to establish the best possible care for children. In my clinical practice I like to stay as “upstream” as possible when it comes to childhood development as well as management of acute and chronic illnesses. I take a minimalistic approach, believing strongly that parents or other caretakers are personal experts regarding their own children, and listening to them is a vital part of providing appropriate care.

Personal Interests

Dr. Newman is married to David, an endocrinologist. They have three children, two boys and a girl, who keep them busy. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, running, biking, yoga, reading and cooking.
