President, Bismarck
Todd Schaffer, MD, serves as the president and CEO of Sanford Health’s Bismarck region. He oversees health services and is responsible for the successful planning and implementation of operational and strategic goals.
Dr. Schaffer started with the organization as a physician at the Sanford North Walk-in Clinic, where he sometimes still provides care. Before his current role, he served as the clinic vice president in Bismarck.
As a graduate of the University of North Dakota, Dr. Schaffer completed his residency in family medicine at Altru Health System in Grand Forks, North Dakota. He currently serves as a colonel and State Surgeon for the North Dakota National Guard and has served four tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He also recently graduated as a distinguished honor graduate from the U.S. Army War College.
