Caring for Sick Newborns
As a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, Andrea Peterson works with Neonatologists and other team members taking care of premature and critically ill newborn babies in the NICU.
She cares for infants with a range of conditions including:
- Prematurity
- Respiratory failure
- Congenital anomalies
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy
- Seizures
- Congenital heart disease
- Sepsis
She also specializes in resuscitation and stabilization of infants at birth.
Andrea is also a member of the NICU Chronic Respiratory Care team providing specialized care for infants with chronic lung disease. She is a certified Lactation counselor, Neonatal Resuscitation Program Instructor, and member of the Children’s Palliative Care team.
