Helping Kids Recover Physical Functioning
After an illness, disease, or brain or spinal injury, your child can benefit from Sanford Children's Rehabilitation and Therapy.
Your child's team of specialists will coordinate therapy to make sure your child reaches their highest potential and activity levels.
Your child's team includes occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, pediatricians, physiatrists (pediatric rehabilitation physicians), psychologists, registered dieticians and more.
We also provide support, guidance and education for parents.
These services are provided for pediatric inpatients and outpatients from birth to 21 years of age:
Pediatric Occupational Therapy
Pediatric occupational therapists (OT's) are nationally certified health care professionals who evaluate and treat children who have physical injury or illness, psychological diagnosis, developmental, sensory or learning disabilities which limit their abilities to move, play and perform functional activities in their daily lives.
Pediatric Physical Therapy
Pediatric physical therapists (PT's) are nationally certified health care professionals who evaluate and treat children who have health-related conditions that limit their ability to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives.
Pediatric physical therapists use their expertise in movement and play when working with children and their families to help each child reach their maximum potential to function independently.
Pediatric Speech Therapy
Pediatric speech therapists (ST's) are nationally certified health care professionals who evaluate and treat individuals with speech and language difficulties.
Pediatric speech therapists specialize in childhood communication challenges, feeding and swallowing disorders, cognition and social skills.
