Jesse Dirksen, MD, a breast health specialist at Sanford Health, talks about what kind of follow-up care patients can expect long-term after breast cancer surgery. After surgery, patients are followed up closely by the breast surgeon and the medical oncologist and can expect appointments within one to two weeks after surgery. Barring complications, they will be seen again at one month, then every six months for the first two years, and annually thereafter.
