Women’s Cervical Cancer and Mammogram Screening Event - Park Rapids
The Sanford Health Park Rapids Clinic will host a special women’s screening event on Wednesday, Sept. 9 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Women attending can make an appointment for a cervical cancer screening (Pap smear), a critical screening tool for the early detection of cervical cancer. The Edith Sanford 3D Mobile Mammography Unit will also be available on-site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for women who are due for their screening mammogram.
Sanford Health professionals will be on-site throughout the event to discuss personal risk factors, explore strategies for reducing risk, and share practical steps for long-term prevention and wellness.
Pap smears are recommended every three years for women ages 21–29 and every five years for women ages 30–65, depending on individual risk factors and provider recommendations. Women experiencing symptoms should consult their health care provider, regardless of their screening schedule.
Screening mammograms are recommended annually beginning at age 40 for women at average risk of breast cancer.
