Sanford Health earns breast center designation

(Bismarck, N.D.) – Sanford Health in Bismarck recently earned full accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons. Sanford Health in Bismarck is the first and only health system in the region to achieve this prestigious quality designation and joins Sanford Health in Fargo, which is the only other system in North Dakota with the designation.

To earn NAPBC accreditation, Sanford Health had to show its commitment to providing the highest level of quality breast care while undergoing a rigorous evaluation process and review of its performance. During the survey process, Sanford Health demonstrated compliance with standards the NAPBC established for treating patients who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease. The standards include proficiency in the areas of center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education and quality improvement.

NAPBC accreditation ensures Sanford Health patients have access to comprehensive care for breast disease including a full range of state-of-the-art services, a team approach between physicians, nurse navigators and other health care professionals to coordinate the best treatment options, information about ongoing clinical trials and new treatment options and quality care close to home.
