Kohls Cares Donation Benefits Area Children

Sanford Children's Celebrates Kohl's Department Stores' Donation at the Results Radio Cure Kids Cancer Radiothon

(Sioux Falls, SD) - Sanford Children’s will celebrate and recognize a donation of more than $38,000 from Kohl’s Department Stores during Kids Corner at the Results Radio Cure Kids Cancer radiothon on Friday, March 30, 3:00-6:00 p.m. at Sanford Children’s Hospital in Sioux Falls.

The event will include activities and information about healthy choices. At 5:00 p.m., Kohl’s representatives will present a check for $38,442 to support Kohl’s Classroom Connections, an education outreach program focused on the prevention of childhood obesity which is part of the Growing Healthy Initiative.

“Pediatric obesity continues to contribute to health risks facing many children today,” said Kim Overby, director of Sanford Children’s CHILD Services. “We are grateful to Kohl’s for their gift to help educate young children on positive health behaviors that can impact lifelong healthy living habits.”

Since 2000, Kohl’s has donated more than $315,000 Sanford Children’s in Sioux Falls. Other initiatives supported through Kohl’s Cares® include child life programming, equipment purchases and pediatric outreach services.

Kohl's commitment to Sanford Children’s is made possible through the Kohl's Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl's has raised more than $180 million dollars through this merchandise program. 

In addition, Kohl's Cares features a scholarship program, which recognizes more than 2,100 young volunteers with a total of $410,000 in scholarships and prizes this year. Through Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 385,000 associates have donated more than 1.2 million hours of their time since 2001 and Kohl’s has donated more than $35 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations.
