Aaron Zylstra, MD
(Sioux Falls, SD) – Sanford Pediatrician, Aaron Zylstra, MD
, is joining a national conversation about raising healthy children. Parents looking for advice, information and other tools on healthy habits and more will be able to pose their questions to the Sioux Falls doctor on Sanford/WebMD’s “Raising fit Kids
” website. Dr. Zylstra will respond on the public message board and the conversation will grow.
“We found one of parents’ greatest challenges in talking to their kids about weight and healthy habits is simply not having the right information,” says Dr. Zylstra, Sanford Health pediatrician. “This website offers parents and families the tools they need to become healthy role models for their children. I am excited to be a part of this national conversation.”
Dr. Zylstra is taking the reins from Sanford Health Fargo Pediatrician Christopher Tiongson, MD. Dr. Tiongson began the conversation with parents last year. And since then, over 500,000 parents have joined in and are benefitting from the information on the Raising fit Kids site.
“Dr. Tiongson has established a great foundation for this conversation. We are making an impact,” says Dr. Zylstra. “I’m excited to build on that.”
Sanford Health is committed to helping families confront our nation’s childhood obesity epidemic.
A recent Raising fit Kids survey found parents have trouble talking to their kids about weight. In fact, most parents find it more difficult than other touchy subjects like drugs, alcohol or sex.
Backed by the clinical insight of Sanford Health, fit educates, empowers and motivates families to live a healthy lifestyle through a comprehensive suite of online resources. It is the only initiative focusing equally on the four key contributing factors to a child’s weight: nutrition, activity, emotion and sleep.
