(Hallock, MN) – Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center (KMHC) has partnered with Sanford Health to offer their patients a new state-of-the-art Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. The agreement took effect April 5, 2011. No time line for rolling out the new EMR system to patients has been set.
“We are excited to be able to offer our patients access to one of the most advanced information systems available. Hospitals and clinics across the nation are challenged by information sharing,” commented Rick Failing, Kittson Memorial CEO. “This is a huge leap forward in allowing medical practitioners in Kittson County, Fargo and beyond to have real-time access to clinical information. This will have a tremendous impact on our ability to care for patients.”
The EMR system will allow nurses, practitioners and other medical professionals to seamlessly collect, store, and access a patient’s medical information in the safest way possible. Patients can also use a secure internet-based portal to conveniently schedule appointments, access lab test results, and communicate with their care team.
“Sanford strongly believes that sharing information and EMR technology with other health systems works as a catalyst for providing patients with truly integrated care,” said Dennis Hofer, vice president for Sanford Health Information Technology.
Sanford Health has several levels of relationships with area health systems. These relationships range from associate, managed, leased to owned status. KMHC has entered into an associate agreement with Sanford, allowing them to access to the EMR system.
