(Moorhead, MN and Sioux Falls, SD) – Genetics research is at the core of providing innovative and individualized health care. Sanford Health has convened a symposium on March 7 and 8, offering a platform for in-depth information sharing and discussions between Sanford researchers and national genetics leaders.
The two day symposium will begin in Moorhead at the at the Hjemkomst Center where Sanford Health leaders will provide an update on current and novel initiatives at Sanford Research, including the organization’s commitment to health research in the Fargo area. They will be joined by Max Muenke, MD, director of the Medical Genetics Branch of the National Human Genome Research Institute. Dr. Muenke will outline current activities in sequencing and personalized medicine.
Dr. Muenke will also participate in the Sanford Genetics, Genomics and Individualized Medicine Conference at 8 a.m. at the Sanford Center in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, March 8 where he will be joined by research leaders focused on the collection, storage and utilization of material toward personalized treatment. This important discussion will include presentations by representatives from the National Disease Research Interchange; the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen); and Rules-Based Medicine, Inc. among others.
By drawing experts in the fields of genetics, genomics and individualized medicine, Sanford physicians, scientists and staff will be exposed to current philosophies and protocols in this evolving field.
