Pitfalls of Change

We are told that for a healthy long life we should eat nutritious meals, exercise regularly, and manage stress. In response, we make resolutions, we set lofty goals and get started on our quest to change it all. And then…we eat a big chocolate bar or we miss a day or two of exercise. We tell ourselves we have failed. Why is it so easy to fall into this trap?

We get caught in this pitfall because we set out to climb the mountain by the shortest and steepest path. We set goals that require us to take huge steps of change.

To be successful, we need to work our way through the foothills. Building on each small step and celebrating our successes along the way. We will reach the mountaintop through a change that occurs for long-term success. There is not a magic pill that can be prescribed to make the change for us. Change is a process that occurs through the choices we make and the actions we take.
