(Sioux Falls, SD)—More than 1,200 guests assembled at the 2010 Sanford Children’s Gala, which was themed “Mission: Possible. Finding Cures for Childhood Diseases,” to fund research to benefit children. Attendees donated more than $840,000, topping last year’s $600,000 event.
“We’re grateful to our generous donors for their steadfast support of, and commitment to, children’s healthcare,” said Brian Mortenson, President Sanford Health Foundation.
Fundraising for the June 12 gala included sponsorships from local and regional businesses, raffle ticket sales, table sales and a fundraising challenge. Supporters gave nearly $500,000 for the fundraising challenge alone, which benefits Sanford Children’s Fund, The Sanford Project Fund and Sanford Children’s Health Research Center Fund.
Guests at the 11th annual gala event included representatives of the region and country in addition to international dignitaries. Tours were given of the Sanford Center, home to Sanford Research. World renowned opera singer Scott Piper was also featured. The event also included dinner, program and dancing.
