Gary Timmerman, MD, FACS
(Sioux Falls, SD) – Gary Timmerman, MD, FACS, Director of Sanford Trauma Services at Sanford USD Medical Center recently spoke at the prestigious Trauma, Critical Care & Acute Care Annual Surgery Conference in Las Vegas, NV. This annual conference has become the best attended trauma course in the world with more than 1300 attendees. Dr. Timmerman joined select medically renowned physicians. These course speakers are physicians in active practice who continue "in the trenches" day after day, night after night, dealing with the most complex surgical challenges.
For the 42nd year, the conference continues to focus on Trauma, Critical Care & Acute Care Surgery. The conference offers comprehensive continuing education for the treatment of critically ill and injured patients, stressing current basic and leading edge guidelines and technology for evaluation, diagnosis and management. The course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of those caring for ill and injured patients in rural, urban and suburban hospitals.
Dr. Timmerman attended medical school at Washington University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Rush-Presbyterian – St. Luke’s Medical Center and is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Timmerman currently practices at Sanford USD Medical Center and at Sanford Clinic Surgical Associates and specializes in general surgery with a scope of practice that includes thoracic/esophageal surgery, pancreatic surgery, colon and rectal surgery, breast surgery, endocrine surgery, advanced laparoscopic surgery, robotic assisted surgery, upper endoscopy and colonoscopy and trauma surgery. Dr. Timmerman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and also serves as a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of South Dakota School of Medicine, General Surgery.
