(MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL) – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced that the Wolves game on Saturday, Nov. 29 vs. the Denver Nuggets is Mike Miller Night, presented by Sanford Health. The first 5,000 fans in attendance for Mike Miller Night will receive a Mike Miller Howl Towel, courtesy of Sanford Health.
Mike Miller Night was inspired by Miller's charitable involvement with Sanford Health. In May 2007, Miller won the NBA's Community assist award for making a $1 million donation with his wife Jennifer to Sanford Health to establish the Mike and Jennifer Miller Endowment Fund to support Sanford Children's Hospital. Sanford Children's Hospital is set to open in Feb. 2008 in Sioux Falls, S.D., less than 100 miles from Miller's hometown Mitchell, S.D. Additionally, Miller recently joined with the Sanford Project to announce Mike Miller Shoot for the Cure in which Miller will donate $100 for every three-pointer he makes at Target Center during the 2008-09 season for type 1 diabetes research.
Mike Miller Night is part of a joint sponsorship with Sanford Health, the Timberwolves, and the Wolves' NBA D-League affiliate the Sioux Falls Skyforce. In addition to Mike Miller Night, the partnership includes a Sioux Falls weekend, in which Timberwolves front office personnel will visit the Sioux Falls market on Feb. 21 to tour the new Sanford Children's Hospital, participate in the grand opening ceremony, conduct a basketball clinic for local kids and take part in a ceremony prior to the Skyforce game that night, commemorating the Skyforce's 20th season. The weekend will culminate at the Wolves game vs. the L.A. Lakers Feb. 22 when Skyforce players and personnel will participate in a ceremony at Target Center to mark the 20th season of the Skyforce.
