Celebrate Kindness KickOff Rally Set for Tomorrow Tuesday Jan 15

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 15, MeritCare will hold its annual Celebrate Kindness kick-off event at the Heritage Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Approximately 160 student and staff representatives from the 47 Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo K-12 schools will attend. This year's theme is "100 ways to be kind," which was chosen to recognize MeritCare's 100-year celebration that will begin February 2008.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Jan. 15, MeritCare will hold its annual Celebrate Kindness kick-off event at the Heritage Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Approximately 160 student and staff representatives from the 47 Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo K-12 schools will attend. This year's theme is "100 ways to be kind," which was chosen to recognize MeritCare's 100-year celebration that will begin February 2008.

The kick-off rally will include:
  • Reading of a joint mayors proclamation by Mayors Voxland, Walaker and Mattern declaring February 10-16, Celebrate Kindness Week in Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo
  • 11:45 a.m. - Ashley Young, Miss North Dakota, will present her platform: "Stop Bullying in Schools: Save the Spirit of the Child"
  • 12:15 p.m. - Representatives from Cheney Middle School will receive the 2007 Celebrate Kindness Award for their collection of over 2000 hygiene products that went to the YWCA Shelter

The Celebrate Kindness project provides educators in the school districts with external support for their character-building efforts. The week-long campaign provides opportunities for students and adults to join together to spread peace through kind acts. Each year, individuals, schools, families, faith communities and businesses are encouraged to use the week to promote goodwill by sharing kindness with friends, neighbors and those in need.

MeritCare sponsors Celebrate Kindness and provides promotional items to over 70 schools and 25 faith communities in North Dakota and Minnesota.
