Sioux Valley Luverne Medical Center Receives National Recognition for New Facility

Sioux Valley Luverne Medical Center recently received Honorable Mention in the New Construction category for the 2006 Vista Team Award.

Sioux Valley Luverne Medical Center recently received Honorable Mention in the New Construction category for the 2006 Vista Team Award. Over 140 nationwide healthcare design and construction projects were entered in this national competition. Of those, three were awarded first place in the categories of New Construction, Renovation and Infrastructure. Five projects, including the Sioux Valley Luverne Medical Center, were named Honorable Mention.

This award recognizes professionals for their teamwork in the design and construction of a healthcare environment. By using a team approach, healthcare facilities are able to best serve the community, implement projects on time and on budget, and create greater efficiency, flexibility and productivity. The Vista Team Award is a national award sponsored by the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) of the American Hospital Association (AHA) and the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

"This award is important to our facility as it validates the efforts of all those who were involved in this project," said Jerry Carl, CEO at Sioux Valley Luverne Medical Center. "Our intent early on was to make sure all parties with a vested interest in the new facility would be heard and we are pleased to be recognized for that level of collaboration."

The Sioux Valley Luverne Medical Center project team included: Sioux Valley Regional Health Services of Sioux Falls, City of Luverne Officials, Luverne Community Members, TSP, Inc., Henry Carlson Company, Ramsuer-Petersen, Gensler, and CompPlanAssociates.

Sioux Valley Regional Health Services commissioned TSP, Inc. to design the new $18 million Sioux Valley Luverne Medical Center in Luverne, Minnesota. Design of the new facility addressed healthcare trends including patient-focused care, sustainable design and future expansion needs.

Having opened in July 2005, the Sioux Valley Luverne Medical Center provides a complete rural healthcare campus experience. With public gathering areas, quiet areas for patients and family members, a public reference library and community meeting rooms, the new facility seeks to serve the needs of both patients and community members.
