Hospitalists are board certified internal medicine doctors who specialize in caring for hospitalized patients. Having a hospitalist is similar to have a primary care doctor with you in the hospital throughout your stay. Hospitalists work with your primary care doctor and specialists to ensure that you receive high-quality health care, but do not see patients in the clinic setting.
