Tips for Success

General Surgery Instructions:
  • Do not eat or drink anything, including water, after midnight of the night before surgery (unless you have been directed differently by your care team). Failure to follow this instruction may result in delay or cancellation of your surgery!
  • It’s also best not to smoke or chew gum.

  • Please bathe the night before surgery or in the morning before coming to the hospital.

  • Please bring along any regular mediations you are taking in the original bottles.

  • Notify your doctor if your physical condition changes before surgery. For instance, if you develop a cold, persistent cough, fever or other changes. These problems may require your procedure to be postponed.

  • Please limit visiting family members and friends so you can get the rest you need.

  • DO NOT bring: jewelry, money, credit cards or other valuables. We cannot be responsible for them. All piercings need to be removed.

  • Do not bring children. Unless you are bringing your child as a patient.

When should I be there?
We ask that you arrive at the Surgical Tower 1 1/2 hrs before your surgery or as directed so that routine pre-operative physicals and laboratory work can be completed. Your surgery may also be performed earlier than planned due to unexpected schedule changes.

What do I wear?
Wear loose, comfortable clothing that can be folded for easy storage.

Where do I park?
You will be greeted at the door of the Surgical Tower and offered free valet parking. Valet available 5am - 9pm.
