Waterbirth
For years, hospitals and birthing centers have encouraged women in labor to use whirlpools and tubs to ease labor pains and relax during the minutes and hours before their baby is born. It’s a natural, safe and relaxing option for women now available at The Birth Place in Sioux Falls.
Other advantages for the mother include:
After delivery, the baby is removed from the water and placed on the mother’s chest. Until that happens, the baby is still receiving oxygen through the umbilical cord. When babies are born in the water, they experience a similar environment to what they experienced in the amniotic sac. This means less stress and more security during the process.
