Pediatrics - Critical Care

Sanford Pediatric Critical Care centers are designed and equipped with the latest in technology to support the critical care needs of children with life-threatening illnesses and injuries or those in need of close monitoring. Led by pediatric intensive care physicians known as ‘intensivists,’ and pediatric intensive care nurses, we work with primary care providers and other specialists to support, stabilize and provide advanced care for critically ill children. Pediatric intensivists are available 24/7 at Sanford Children’s Hospitals.

When Your Baby Needs Intensive Care

New parents eagerly look forward to bringing their baby home, so it can be frightening if your newborn needs to be admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). At first it may seem like a foreign place, but understanding the NICU and what goes on there can help reduce your fears and let you better help your baby.
