Sanford Cytopathology is a sub-specialty of Pathology that studies changes caused by disease on a cellular level. The subspecialty of Cytopathology is a combination of both Cytology (the study of the formation, structure, and function of cells) and pathology (identification of diseases microscopically). Cytopathologists use very small amounts of cells, fluids, or tissue fragments to screen and diagnose disease.
