Sanford Health provides same day laparascopic hysterectomy as a minimally invasive hysterectomy procedure. Traditional surgery requires physicians to use two large incisions, with an average six-week recovery time for most patients. With outpatient hysterectomy, physicians make just four quarter-inch size incisions in the abdomen, patients go home the same day and recovery time is typically two weeks. Laparascopic hysterectomy can be performed in a hospital or outpatient setting.
