Sanford Children’s offers a team approach to meeting the medical needs of patients with Down Syndrome. Our dedicated team is here to provide comprehensive care and support for children and adults. We focus on early intervention, medical management, prevention, care coordination and education in a supportive, positive environment. It’s our goal to help each patient increase their health and wellbeing.

Children with Down Syndrome will be seen in Fargo at the Coordinated Treatment Center (within the Sanford Broadway Clinic) and in Sioux Falls at Sanford Children’s Specialty Clinic.

To understand Down syndrome, you need to understand a little about chromosomes.

Down Syndrome, also called Trisomy 21, is a condition in which extra genetic material causes delays in the way a child develops, both mentally and physically. It affects about 1 in every 800 babies.
