Breast Cancer Risk Consultation

Sanford offers breast cancer screenings for individuals at increased risk of breast cancer due to personal risk factors. Examples can include a personal or family history of breast cancer or ovarian cancer, the identification of a genetic mutation such as BRCA1 or BRCA2, or history of an abnormal breast biopsy.

Personal risk factors can include:

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Genetics
  • Family history
  • Race and ethnicity
  • Dense breast tissue
  • Lifestyle factors

Sanford’s multidisciplinary team is comprised of a fellowship-trained breast physician, a genetic counselor, radiologists, and a team of physicians and staff working together to provide education, hereditary cancer risk assessment, genetic counseling and testing, individualized cancer screening and proactive support for people who are concerned about their personal and family history of breast cancer.
