Birthmarks and Vascular Anomalies
One in every ten children in the United States is born with a vascular birthmark. Sanford's vascular anomalies experts specialize in the treatment of these birthmarks at the Sanford Vascular Anomalies and Birthmarks Clinic. Vascular anomalies (blood vessels that have developed abnormally), include arteries, veins, lymphatic vessels and capillaries. Common lesions include hemangiomas and port wine stains. Less common lesions include venous, lymphatic, or arteriovenous malformations. Parents of children with a birthmark are often apprehensive as to the proper diagnosis and treatment for their children. Fortunately, many recent advances have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of hemangiomas and vascular malformations. Our specialist will evaluate your child and determine the appropriate medical, surgical or laser treatment for their vascular birthmark.
