What is a radiation oncologist?

A radiation oncologist specializes in the use of high-energy radiation technology that causes tumors to shrink or be destroyed. When radiation therapy is part of your treatment plan, one of our radiation oncologists becomes part of your care team—providing the therapy, determining the dosage, scheduling treatments, and managing any side effects or other aspects of your treatment.

Patients can make an appointment at Sanford Radiation Oncology through a referral from a oncologist, surgeon, primary care physician or through a self-referral by calling (605) 328-6000.
