Internal Medicine Residency Program

Training Future Internal Medicine Physicians

The University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences Internal Medicine Residency Program is rooted in a commitment to its residents. We work to help them build a solid foundation in all aspects of internal medicine and to foster the professionalism and compassion that characterizes an internist.

Read a message from the program’s director, Jennifer Raum, MD.

Graduates of the program build successful careers in subspecialty, hospital and ambulatory internal medicine, in both academic and clinical settings, and many have returned as faculty physicians to contribute to the education of their future colleagues.

Meet the Faculty

The three-year categorical residency is based at Sanford Health and the VA Health Care System in Fargo, North Dakota. Inpatient medicine rotations are conducted in Sanford Health’s new state-of-the-art hospital. Residents also gain ambulatory training and experiences in their own continuity clinic, located within the Sanford Broadway Medical Center. There is a growing emphasis on scholarly activity within the program, which is supported by Sanford Health.
