APP Primary Care Fellowship
The Sanford Health APP Primary Care Fellowship is a paid 12-month educational experience for new or recent advanced practice provider graduates – physician assistants (PA) or nurse practitioners (NP) committed to clinical practice in ambulatory primary care.
The program is located in the Fargo/Moorhead metro area. The program will align closely with the already established and successful internal medicine and family medicine physician residency programs at Sanford Health in Fargo.
Lectures, journal clubs, simulations, case reviews, specialty rotations and mentored clinical experiences in both internal medicine and family medicine settings give each fellow an individualized experience. Fellows will also participate in performance and quality improvement in a meaningful way, leading teams to identify areas in need of improvement and implement changes to improve patient outcomes for the health system.
We currently accept two (2) fellows per year and the program runs from August to July. Each fellow is salaried at 80% of a new graduate rate with full benefits, including a CME allowance, with a potential for a signing bonus if hired in primary care after completion of the fellowship. Employment after completion of the fellowship is highly desired but not guaranteed.
While not required for APP practice, a fellowship ensures a new graduate dedicated time to apply and build upon knowledge learned in NP or PA education, refine acquired skills, and build the confidence necessary for the increasingly complex environment of primary care. The program strives to build an expert primary care workforce to serve our local community and unique population of patients.
Sanford Health values advancement in education and innovation of practice and strives to provide exceptional care for all patients with a foundation of team-based primary care.
