Child and Adolescent Partial Hospital Program (PHP)

The Sanford Child and Adolescent Partial Hospital Program (PHP) is a provider referral based program that offers intensive, group-based therapeutic services in a coordinated, structured environment. PHP can be an option when outpatient treatment has not been successful and can also provide a good alternative to or transition from an inpatient stay.

The calm, safe and comfortable environment of our PHP unit promotes healing for our patients and their families.

New Patient Information

Patients participate five days per week, Monday through Friday. The program allows patients to return home to their families at the end of each day where they can practice the skills and tools they have learned in therapy, knowing the care team will be available for support when they return to the program the following day.

Any Sanford primary care or behavioral health clinician or provider, or community behavioral health clinician or provider can refer a patient to PHP.

Facilities accommodate support groups and activities that help children and families work through issues by providing comfortable treatment areas with spaces and furniture conducive to hearing and healing. A non-clinical atmosphere is fostered through comfortable chairs, group therapy settings and round table or circle discussions.

Treatment areas are comfortable, with spaces and furniture conductive to hearing and healing.  Encouraging steps to recovery, zen and journey images help inspire positive and healing steps in a relaxed facility.

The Role Of The Family

Sanford Child and Adolescent PHP staff recognizes and respects that parental /guardianship rights and judgment ultimately govern treatment decisions for their children. We value input from parents/guardians and involve them in their child’s treatment as much as possible, conducting family meetings throughout the course of their child’s time in PHP.
