Sanford serves as the presenting sponsor of the Wolves' Oct. 17 preseason game at the Sioux Falls Arena.
Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves and Sanford Health today announced a continuation of their corporate partnership, highlighted by Sanford serving as the presenting sponsor of the Wolves' Oct. 17 preseason game at the Sioux Falls Arena. The Timberwolves' relationship with Sanford Health, which is now entering its third season, will also feature a continuation of the Shoot for the Cure initiative benefiting The Sanford Project, which is dedicated to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes (also known as juvenile diabetes).
"Sanford has been a phenomenal partner to the Timberwolves these last two years and we're thrilled to continue that relationship this season," said Timberwolves President Chris Wright. "Beginning with the exhibition game this fall, we're looking forward to another great season of bringing NBA basketball to the passionate fans in Sioux Falls while helping Sanford continue to stay on the cutting edge of diabetes research."
"Sanford Health is excited to be the presenting sponsor of the preseason NBA game in Sioux Falls featuring the Minnesota Timberwolves and Milwaukee Bucks. Sanford is committed to giving back to the community through family events like this. In addition, our partnership includes programs to work with children to ‘Get Fit’ and encourage healthy lifestyles. We also plan to work together to host local basketball camps for boys and girls to advance their skill level with the game. Finally, Sanford Health will again work with the Timberwolves organization to improve player performance. We are grateful to the Minnesota Timberwolves for recognizing and continuing to support The Sanford Project initiative to find a cure for Type I Diabetes," said Mark Elliott, Sanford Health Vice President of Business Development.
The Timberwolves will return to Sioux Falls for the second consecutive preseason when they host the Milwaukee Bucks at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17 at the Sioux Falls Arena. Tickets for the matchup, which is presented by Sanford Health, will go on sale this Saturday, Sept. 11 at the Sioux Falls Arena box office, online at Ticketmaster.com or via phone at 1-800-4-NBA-TIX. Sioux Falls Skyforce season ticket holders will have the opportunity to preorder tickets on Thursday and Friday before they go on sale to the general public.
This year's game will mark the Timberwolves' sixth appearance in Sioux Falls, where they've compiled a 4-1 record in exhibition play. The Wolves first visited Sioux Falls during the inaugural 1989-90 season, and have maintained a strong relationship with the city since the franchise's inception. In 2006, the Sioux Falls Skyforce joined the NBA D-League and were assigned as the Wolves' affiliate, strengthening the basketball ties between Minnesota and Sioux Falls.
