Annual Cake Event Benefits Childrens Miracle Network and Sanford Childrens Hospital

Making Miracles Happen is Just the Icing on the Cake

(Sioux Falls, SD) – Two big stars of the Food Network Cake Challenge will be the delight of Sioux Falls area cake devotees at the Third Annual Cake Decorating Event to benefit the Children's Miracle Network and Sanford Children's Hospital.

Norman Davis, making his second appearance in Sioux Falls, is a seven-time winner on the Food Network. Making her first appearance here is Lora Mahaffey, the $10,000 winner of the Cupcake Creation Contest on the Food Network.

The event kicks off with a full day of demonstrations on Friday, April 16. King of Cake Norman and Cupcake Queen Lora will each put on a demo in the Ivy Room, 2425 South Shirley Avenue. Sioux Falls' own Steven Stellingwerf, Master Decorator, Cookbook Author and National Cake judge, will put on a demonstration as well. The demonstrations cost $20 per session.

For the second year, a Cake Show will take place Saturday, April 17 at The Empire Mall. Decorators of all skill levels (including children) can bring in their pre-decorated cakes and have their work judged by the visiting celebrities.

From 1 – 3 p.m., the fun continues as 12 decorators compete against each other to execute the most creative designs within a strict time limit. The theme of the event is Royalty in Fairy Tales. Presentations of ribbons and trophies will conclude the day. To register to participate in the Cake Show and/or the Cake Decorating Challenge, please download the event participate forms below:
