Sanford's Michael F. Bergeron elected to serve on the ACSM Administrative Council.

(Sioux Falls, SD) - Michael F. Bergeron, PhD, FACSM, Director for the National Institute for Athletic Health & Performance at Sanford and Sanford Children’s Center for Youth Sports & Health, has been elected by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Board of Trustees to serve on the ACSM Administrative Council. The ACSM is the largest sports medicine and exercise science organization in the world. More than 35,000 international, national, and regional members and certified professionals are dedicated to advancing and integrating scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports medicine.
The ACSM Administrative Council performs routine administrative and corporate functions and makes decisions on timely issues for the college that cannot be held until the next Board of Trustees meeting. Recent actions of the Council included decisions on authorship and publication approval for several new ACSM resource manuals, candidates for the upcoming ACSM officer and trustee election, proposed eligibility changes to ACSM health and clinical certifications, and an upcoming clinical roundtable.
Dr. Bergeron is a Fellow and Trustee of the American College of Sports Medicine, a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics Executive Committee for the Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness, and currently serves as an Editorial Board member for the International Journal of Sport Nutrition and Journal of Athletic Training. He has numerous publications and his work as a prominent researcher and leadership in youth sports and exercise in the heat is well recognized internationally.
