Hospitalists are board certified internal medicine doctors who specialize in caring for hospitalized patients. Having a hospitalist is similar to have a primary care doctor with you in the hospital throughout your stay. Hospitalists work with your primary care doctor and specialists to ensure that you receive high-quality health care, but do not see patients in the clinic setting.
Growing up in India, Vishnu Laalitha Surapaneni, MD, was always inspired to provide medical care in rural and underserved areas. She believes that “prevention is better than cure.” Dr. Surapaneni tries to learn from her patients what they do to stay healthy and also talk about ways of increasing adherence to a proper diet and medications.
Dr. Surapaneni has diverse interests in both the public health and medical fields. Her area of interests in medicine have been in the area of quality and patient safety. She also loves the intellectual aspect of pathophysiology and diagnosis.
Vishnu Laalitha Surapaneni, MD, loves to learn about different cultures and travel as much as possible. She also likes learning languages and is currently learning Spanish. Knowing a person’s language helps her understand the diversity of human nature and know her patients better.
