Dr. McGrann has special interest in dysmorphology (especially craniofacial disorders and skeletal dysplasias), cancer genetics and prenatal diagnosis. She has experience in the diagnosis and management of genetic conditions including metabolic disorders, adult neurodegenerative disorders and others.
Dr. McGrann believes the patient comes first and her aim is to provide an atmosphere in which the patient and his/her family can search for answers to difficult questions with the knowledge that they will be supported and listened to. She does her best to make a diagnosis but at the same time, does not stretch the symptoms to fit into a particular syndrome merely to achieve that diagnosis. She works with the patient's primary physician to help coordinate ongoing care when appropriate. She also serves as a resource for patients regarding educational materials and support groups.
Dr. McGrann enjoys cooking for her family. When the weather is good, she can be found in her gardens. She is the fourth generation of avid gardeners in her family and will go to almost any length to "rescue" plants. As a result, she has some pretty interesting perennials – some that have been passed from her grandmother and mother. She also loves to read and to do needlepoint.
