For those with metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or high cholesterol, she helps patients explore lifestyle approaches to manage their conditions. These approaches include low carbohydrate or ketogenic diets and intermittent fasting.

Dr. Lovat has experience practicing full-spectrum family medicine for rural patients. This includes admitting patients to the hospital, covering the emergency room, delivering babies, providing walk-in and outpatient care and assisting in the operating room.

Before coming to East Grand Forks, she provided urgent care services in Spokane, Washington, during the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, she also offered virtual support for indigenous patients in Northern Manitoba. Dr. Lovat personally cared for hundreds of COVID-19 patients.

She's now in East Grand Forks to return to practicing full-spectrum care.
